MLB DFS: Best DraftKings, FanDuel daily Fantasy baseball picks, strategy for July 1, 2021

With 24 Major League Baseball teams taking the field on Thursday, owners will have their hands full trying to identify top talent for their MLB DFS lineups. Among the potential MLB DFS picks to consider is Mets superstar Jacob deGrom, who is 7-2 with a microscopic 0.69 ERA and 122 strikeouts heading into a road test against the Braves. Brewers starter Corbin Burnes might be searching for a fourth win to bring his record to .500, but he sports a 2.53 ERA and has struck out 115 hitters as Milwaukee visits the Pirates.

DeGrom is going for $11,500 on both DraftKings and FanDuel, while Burnes is priced at $9,200 on DraftKings and $10,600 on FanDuel, meaning you may not be able to have both as part of your MLB DFS strategy. So which pitchers do you anchor your rotation around, and what positional players should you consider? Before locking in any MLB daily Fantasy picks for Thursday, be sure to check out the MLB DFS advice, strategy and projections from SportsLine daily Fantasy expert Mike McClure

McClure is a daily Fantasy pro who has won almost $2 million in his career. And when it comes to daily Fantasy baseball, McClure is at his best. Recognized in the book “Fantasy Football (and Baseball) for Smart People: How to Turn Your Hobby into a Fortune” as a top MLB DFS player, McClure’s proprietary projection model simulates each game 10,000 times, taking factors such as matchups and recent results into account. This allows him to find the best values on every site.

On Wednesday, McClure recommended Padres outfielder Trent Grisham as one of his top options on both DraftKings and FanDuel. The result: Grisham homered twice and drove in five runs, returning 34 points on DraftKings and almost 48 on FanDuel. Anybody who had him in their lineup was well on the way to a profitable day.

McClure’s top MLB DFS picks for July 1, 2021

One of McClure’s top MLB DFS picks for Thursday is Brewers outfielder Christian Yelich at $5,000 on FanDuel and $4,000 on DraftKings. Yelich is hitting .247 with five home runs and 23 RBIs this season. He has scored a run in five straight games.

Yelich is getting back to full form after missing more than a month with back spasms. The 2018 NL MVP was hitting .353 with a .463 on-base percentage and no homers and one RBI through his first 10 games before going on the injured list. Yelich has already delivered against the Pirates so far in 2021, doubling twice, driving in six runs and scoring three more in three games.

Part of McClure’s optimal MLB DFS strategy Thursday includes Giants outfielder Alex Dickerson at $3,800 on DraftKings and $2,200 on FanDuel. Dickerson is hitting .227 with six home runs and 22 RBIs. The 31-year-old went 0-for-3 Tuesday against the Dodgers.

Dickerson’s value Thursday isn’t in what he has done this season, but what he has accomplished against Thursday’s opponent, the Arizona Diamondbacks. Dickerson doubled, tripled and scored twice in two games against Arizona earlier this season. He has also touched up Diamondbacks starter Merrill Kelly for a solo home run earlier in his career, which is why McClure loves Dickerson’s MLB DFS value at at low price.

How to set your MLB DFS lineups for July 1, 2021

McClure is also targeting an undervalued player who is set to explode for huge numbers on Thursday. The stars are aligning for him to return tournament-winning value and he comes at a price that won’t break the bank. You can only see who it is here.
